Mascoutah High School

Mascoutah Community Unit School District #19 – Mascoutah, Illinois

A new 250,000 square foot high school was built in Mascoutah, IL which opened in 2010.  The building consisted of classrooms, two gymnasiums, an auditorium, kitchen, and a wood and metals shop.  The building was cooled by a 960-ton water-cooled chiller plant.  Heat was provided by five condensing hot water boilers.  The building was served by a mixture of variable volume terminal reheat air handling units as well as a handful of single-zone variable volume units serving some of the larger spaces.  Several measures were taken to improve energy efficiency of this building beyond what was required by current energy codes.
